Certiva: Blockchain Shield Protecting Digital Copyrights, Developed by VCCA

In response to rising copyright challenges in the booming digital economy, the Vietnam Creativity and Copyright Association (VCCA) has officially launched Certiva, a blockchain-based platform for creative publication and digital copyright protection.

The launch marks a significant milestone in Vietnam’s efforts to safeguard the rights and legitimate interests of its creative community in the digital age.

Rising copyright threats in the digital era

According to VCCA experts, the digital environment offers unprecedented opportunities for creative works to reach global audiences — but it also exposes them to rampant copyright infringement. Illegal copying, distribution, and content theft have become increasingly sophisticated and difficult to control.

At the launch event, VCCA Chairman Bui Nguyen Hung noted that modern technologies make unauthorized duplication of digital products easier than ever. “The cross-border nature of cyberspace complicates the identification of violators and enforcement of copyright laws,” he said. To address these challenges, VCCA has developed the Certiva platform after extensive research and technological investment.

Blockchain-based solution built on the ‘Immutable Trio’

Certiva provides authors with a secure and transparent tool to register and manage copyright evidence with full legal validity. The platform’s core strength lies in what VCCA calls its “Immutable Trio” — a combination of international standards and compliance with Vietnamese law.

First, each work receives a unique encrypted digital fingerprint that ensures its originality. Second, a verified timestamp records the exact moment of publication. Finally, a public blockchain ledger permanently stores these fingerprints, guaranteeing that records cannot be altered or deleted. Every registered work is granted a unique digital copyright certificate, enabling authors to easily verify ownership and assert their legal rights when necessary.

Empowering creators and enabling global commercialization

“Certiva’s mission is to give creators instant self-protection and open the door to global commercialization of Vietnamese works,” said Bui Nguyen Hung. “It contributes directly to the sustainable growth of Vietnam’s cultural and creative industries.”

Certiva is designed to complement traditional copyright registration methods such as government filings or notarized documentation. Beyond protection, it also serves as a platform for monetizing creative content, helping to build a transparent and sustainable intellectual property ecosystem in Vietnam.

Industry experts have welcomed the initiative. Ngo Thu Phuong, Director of the Literature Publishing House, called it “a positive signal for stronger copyright protection in the digital space.” She added that not only literature but also music, film, and influencer-created content would benefit from the system.

Pham Thi Kim Oanh, Deputy Director of the Copyright Office of Vietnam, emphasized that digital copyright protection requires close coordination between law, technology, and accountability among stakeholders. Platforms like Certiva, she said, are expected to play a key role in this effort.

With the power of blockchain, Certiva is seen as a digital “shield” — promoting fairness, protection, and growth for Vietnam’s creative community in the new digital era.
