Vietnam and Laos have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation in science, technology, and innovation, with a strong focus on digital transformation, disaster management, and high-tech workforce training.

The two sides highlighted science and technology as key drivers for sustainable development and pledged to expand joint research, promote technology transfer, and encourage innovation-led startups. Both ministers underscored the importance of accelerating digital transformation to meet the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
A significant part of the new cooperation framework is the development of shared disaster data platforms to improve forecasting, prevention, and response capabilities. With both countries prone to natural disasters such as floods and storms, enhancing technological collaboration in this field is expected to provide timely and effective solutions to mitigate risks.
Vietnam and Laos also agreed to promote joint research projects in applied sciences, encourage universities and research institutes to establish stronger partnerships, and exchange human resources for training in advanced technologies.
Minister Vongdara expressed appreciation for Vietnam’s consistent support in Laos’ technological development, noting that cooperation with Vietnam has helped Laos enhance capacity in digital government, telecommunications, and IT workforce training. He proposed that Vietnam continue to assist Laos in building digital databases, implementing e-government solutions, and promoting technology-based entrepreneurship.
The two countries will also expand cooperation within multilateral frameworks, including ASEAN initiatives on science, technology, and digital economy. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting regional innovation networks and aligning policies to foster cross-border technology collaboration.
The strengthened partnership reflects the shared determination of Vietnam and Laos to leverage science and technology as foundations for modern, sustainable, and inclusive growth. It is also expected to contribute to enhancing the special solidarity between the two neighbors, which has been a cornerstone of bilateral relations for decades.
