Vietnam Digital Awards 2025 spotlights standout digital transformation initiatives

In a landmark ceremony, the Vietnam Digital Awards (VDA) 2025 recognized 48 agencies, enterprises, and individuals for their outstanding contributions to the national digital transformation drive. The awards, backed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, continue to highlight exemplary digital solutions pushing Vietnam toward a more connected, data-driven future.

Now in its 8th edition, the VDA is among Vietnam’s most prestigious programs celebrating innovation in government, business, and civil society. This year’s edition introduced, for the first time, a category honoring individuals whose projects or leadership have advanced Vietnam’s digital agenda. As noted in the official government release, this shift underscores a growing recognition that people are at the center of digital transformation.

The award winners were selected from a pool of hundreds of nominations. They span a range of domains: AI, big data, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, digital public services, and e-governance solutions. According to the judges, winning entries demonstrated strong technical depth, capacity for scalability, integration into national digital infrastructure, and significant social or economic impact.

One example cited in the government coverage is the digital passport service for Vietnamese citizens. Leveraging the national citizen database, the Immigration Department introduced a fully digitalized process allowing Vietnamese citizens to apply for and receive passports online—eliminating the need for in-person visits and expediting service delivery. Among the individual awardees, Lieutenant Colonel Vũ Thanh Nhân of the Immigration Department was honored for championing this initiative.

The VDA’s evolution reflects the broader momentum behind Vietnam’s digital strategy. The awards are intended not only to reward excellence but also to disseminate replicable models, promote cross-sector cooperation, and catalyze further innovation across provinces and industries. Over eight years, the program has engaged more than 36,000 organizations and received nearly 2,600 submissions, ultimately honoring over 450 units and individuals.

In announcing the winners, Dr. Nguyễn Quân, head of the VDA judging panel, emphasized that the 2025 entries show a deeper appreciation for data, security, and real-world application. Many solutions are now built to plug into national digital ecosystems, raising service efficiency, cutting costs, and improving user experience.

Meanwhile, Nguyễn Minh Hồng, Chair of the Vietnam Digital Communication Association, reiterated that digital transformation is no longer optional—it has become imperative across every sector. He expressed the hope that the award will foster momentum for further adoption of high-value digital tools nationwide.

With government support from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the VDA aligns closely with strategic priorities, including Resolution 57-NQ/TW, which pushes for breakthroughs in science, innovation, and digital development at the national scale. The recognition of solutions with strong replicability and impact is expected to accelerate digital adoption in public administration, healthcare, finance, smart cities, and rural economies.
